Steam is an educational approach that stand for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics.
At Quakers Hill Public School, STEAM is taught across all grades. In Kindergarten. Students participate in STEAM lessons as it is integrated into our weekly programming. The topics focus on daily and seasonal changes, living things, materials and how things move.
As students engage in their learning they are intrigued by wonder, critique, inquiry and innovation. Students also integrate and apply meaningful content in a motivating and engaging way. Students are able to create real life connections to their learning and be engaged in numerous evolving learning spaces.
In the early years, STEAM education plays a role in laying the foundation for future interest and also equips students with vital skills.
The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experimental learning, persist in problem solving, embrace collaboration and work through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century.
