Band

Quakers Hill Public School has a long history of providing a school band for its students. The program comprises of two bands, a junior and senior band, led by experienced and professional musician and conductor. The program is supported by experienced instrumental tutor, Allan Steedman (musicorp). band is offered to students from Year 3 to Year 6. 

In addition, the school provides musical instrument hire program for all students wishing to join the program. Details of how to join the program. Details of how to join, instrument hire and individual tutor arrangements are provided to parents at the commencement of each school year. 

The band program forms an important part of the music program. Band members develop a love of music and the skills that accompany an instrumental education. This aids in the development of literacy and numeracy, which benefits and enhances the student's participation in the wider school curriculum.

The school band perform at the following functions and venues:

  • Principal's assemblies 
  • Education week assemblies 
  • Celebration of Excellence 
  • Shopping centre performances during education week 
  • Blacktown music festivals 
  • ANZAC day ceremonies 
  • QHPS CAPA concert

Our bands

Advanced band 

Advanced band is the school's performance band. Entry to this band is usually by audition or where students have demonstrated sufficient progress in the junior band. Entry is at the discretion of the band director (conductor) and band teacher.

Junior band 

Junior band is the entry-level band is open to any Year 3-6 student wishing to learn a concert band instrument. No previous musical knowledge is required.

Out of area enrolments are considered through the school's band program. Parents seeking to enrol via this avenue incur a $50 administration fee and the student must take part in an audition process. A student will not be considered for enrolment through this program if the child current school has an established band.
